Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s newly deployed interns under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) have successfully undergone a virtual induction, organized by the Public Service Commission (PSC). The nationwide induction, which targeted all cohort 8 PSIP interns, took place on Tuesday, 9th June, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The event provided an opportunity for PSC to orient the graduates to Government operations, national values, ethics as well as career development. It also allowed interns to receive critical programme updates and engage with PSC officials on matters affecting them.
After the induction, the MMUST interns, who had gathered in the University Senate room for the training, were addressed by staff under the Division of Administration and Finance. This session was led by Prof. Maurice Vincent Omolo, standing in for the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Kuria Thuo. “You must count yourselves very lucky, having been selected out of the thousands of applicants countrywide for this programme. Internships play a very critical role in career development and therefore you should make good use of this opportunity,” stated Prof. Omolo.

Prof. Maurice Vincent Omolo addresses the interns shortly after the virtual induction by PSC.
In his address, Prof. Omolo urged the interns to work hard and capitalize both their hard and soft skills, saying that this is vital for long-term career growth. “I ask you to display strong virtues during your stay at MMUST. Your virtues will determine whether we retain you at this University or write you strong recommendation letters if opportunities open up elsewhere,” said Prof. Omolo. He further advised the interns to build their professional networks, gain insights into their respective workstations and identify ways to add value as they explore their career paths.
Similarly, the Registrar (Administration), Dr. Eglay Tsuma, encouraged the interns to remain disciplined, competent and resilient. “I appreciate all of you for accepting to join MMUST. We have already received positive feedback from your supervisors, and I urge you to keep up the great work,” stated Dr. Tsuma, adding that interns should continue to respect authority and deliver quality results.

Undoubtedly, they acquired the knowledge and skills needed to not only excel in their roles, but also make meaningful contributions during their internship at MMUST.
