Job Title and Responsibilities

Associate Professor, Strategic HRM & Corporate Governance 

Prof. Robert K.W. Egessa is an accomplished academic and consultant with nearly 30 years experience in Strategic Human Resource Management, Corporate Governance, and Leadership. He serves as Associate Professor and Director of Career Services at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), where he has also held leadership roles including Dean of the School of Business and Economics and Chair of the Department of Business Administration and Management Sciences.
Beyond academia, Prof. Egessa has played a pivotal role in shaping HR and governance practice in Kenya. He served on the National Governing Council of the Kenya Institute of Management and the Institute of Human Resource Management, contributing to national policy and professional development. He is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K), a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K), and an active member of Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), Institute of Human Resource Management, Kenya (IHRM) and Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).
His teaching, research, and consultancy focus on the intersection of Strategic Human Resource Management, Leadership and Corporate Governance in building sustainable organizations. He has supervised over 30 postgraduate students’ theses to completion and published many academic papers in refereed journals. He is also a sought-after speaker and facilitator at local and international conferences and workshops.
He holds a PhD in Business Management (Strategic HRM focus) from Moi University, an MBA in HRM from Kenyatta University, and a B.Ed. (Arts) from the University of Nairobi. He also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Cambridge International College (UK). Professionally, he is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) and a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K). He further holds certifications in Governance and Health as well as Human Resources for Health (HRH) from the Global Health eLearning Centre (USAID).
