SUCCESSFUL DEANS ELECTIONS IS A HUGE LEAP OF GROWTH FOR MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

In a showcase of maturity, collegiality and integrity, the just concluded Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Deans of Schools elections have effectively catapulted the institution into a towering embodiment of high democratic ideals.

Speaking during the occasion, MMUST’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo encouraged Deans to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) and use it extensively once they take up their new mandates. “As Deans, you are becoming leaders at a very dynamic time during which you may not see your students face to face for a whole year, you need to acquaint yourselves with ICT and ensure that your staff teach students online,” urged Prof. Shibairo. Commenting on the need for the Deans to have a strategy, the renowned Professor of Horticulture advised the new managers to study the critical documents governing the University and if possible, create new ones. “You must uphold integrity and embrace research. There’s need for all of you to ensure diversity of communities and gender,” he stated

MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY’S GLOBAL AND NATIONAL IMAGE SET TO GET A BOOST FROM JOINT EFFORTS OF ALUMNI AND MANAGEMENT

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and the institution’s alumni are working together in a renewed move to upscale the global image of the institution. Speaking on Monday 31st August, 2020 when the MMUST Alumni Association (MMUSTAA) executive members paid him a courtesy call, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo said Alumni are a critical resource of universities across the world. He emphasised the importance of the two parties working together in the interest of making MMUST a centre of excellence both academically and in research.

MMUST EXHIBITS LEADERSHIP AND EXPERTISE AS THE HOST OF THIS YEAR’S ANNUAL BIOPHYSICAL SOCIETY- KENYA CHAPTER CONFERENCE

Once again, MMUST has shown leadership and expertise in matters of science and technology. Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on 21st this month hosted the yearly Biophysical Society- Kenya Chapter conference through zoom. The conference was spearheaded by MMUST’s Mr. Philip Amuyunzu who is the President of Biophysical Society (Kenya Chapter). Biophysics is an interdisciplinary science that applies the theories traditionally used in physics to study biological phenomena. The conference, which was organized using a Special Grant, attracted scholars in the Chemistry, Biology and Physics fields from various institutions in Kenya.

EDUCATION CS PROF. GEORGE MAGOHA LAUDS MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PREPAREDNESS FOR POST COVID -19 REOPENING

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha today commended Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on their preparedness for post Covid reopening during an inspection tour of the institution. “I have been part of this University from its conception and I can attest to the great work that has been done. I am therefore happy to say that this institution is ready to open” said Prof. Magoha.

First Lady Mama Priscilla Oparanya vitalizes the fight against Sickle Cell Anaemia amidst Covid-19 pandemic

Kakamega County First Lady Her Excellency Mama Priscilla Oparanya has upscaled her support to MMUST in the fight against the deadly Sickle Cell Anemia, which is endemic in the malaria-prone western Kenya region. This was during a courtesy call by the University Council to the Governor of the County Government of Kakamega, in Butere Sub-county, on Friday 31st July 2020. While addressing the MMUST delegation led by the Council Chairperson, Dr. Musangi J. Mutua, Mrs. Oparanya expressed her willingness to continue collaborating with the University Council and its Management Board in seeing MMUST achieve in all its plans.

EQUITY BANK GROUP CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER (CCO) VISITS MMUST

The Equity Bank Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Mr. Polycarp Igathe, today 11th August 2020 paid a courtesy call to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo at the University premises.

Prof. Shibairo and Mr. Igathe discussed matters of development and more partnerships between the two institutions.

MMUST WOMEN STEM AMBASSADORS IMPACTING VULNERABLE GIRLS DESPITE COVID-19

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s African Women in Science and Engineering (AWSE), Western Kenya chapter, on Saturday, 4th July, 2020 took their outreach campaign dubbed ‘Watoto wetu jukumu letu, wakati huu wa janga la Korona’ to Makhiakalo Primary School in Kakamega County where they donated re-usable sanitary kits, soaps and masks to about thirty (30) vulnerable adolescent girls.

MMUST JOINS PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), led by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Research and Innovation (PRI), Prof. Charles Mutai, on Tuesday, 23rd June 2020, joined national and Bungoma County leaders in a tree planting exercise at Kaberua Forest in Mt. Elgon. The event, which was part of the public service week celebration, was graced by Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, the Principal Secretary, State Department for University Education and Research and Mr. Harry Kimutai, the Principal Secretary, State Department of Livestock in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
