Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology receives assorted Machine Equipment from West Kenya Sugar Company Ltd as the first step towards Collaboration

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has received assorted engineering equipment from West Kenya Sugar Company as part of the imminent collaboration between the two organizations. The reputable Sugar Company has earmarked MMUST for long term collaboration and industrial linkages not only in the area of engineering but also in a host of other areas. The project initiated by the Executive Dean School of Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) Mr. Benard Obondo, has seen the University receive diverse machine parts and equipment that will now aid the practical training of the MMUST engineering students.

MMUST Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo Highlights the University Readiness on COVID 19 via 103.9 MMUST FM

The Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo today pointed out the University Covid 19 preparedness on 103.9 MMUST FM. The renowned professor of Horticulture outlined the various measures the University has put in place to combat the spread of the virus having taken over the University leadership at the time of the pandemic.

MMUST upscales the fight against Covid 19 through donations to the Kakamega and Shikusa Prisons Inmates.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has taken the lead in empowering communities to cope with Covid- 19. Last week on Monday 18th May, the MMUST Management jointly with the institution’s unions namely; University Academic Staff Union (UASU), Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU) and Kenya Union of Hotels Education Institutions and Allied Workers (KUDHEIA), donated Sanitizers, water tanks for hand washing, bar soaps, face masks and sanitary towels to the inmates at Kakamega Prisons and Shikusa Farm Prison.

Ag. VC Prof. Solomon Shibairo officially joins MMUST’s Coronavirus Emergency Response Team

MMUST’s new Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo today hit the ground running with regard to the fight against Covid-19.  Flanked by the DVC’s, university registrars, finance officer and a section of the Coronavirus Emergency Response team, the professor inspected stores and laboratories at Star Annex where our sanitizing gels, liquid soaps, Jik, distilled water and sanitizing sprays are kept. Prof. Shibairo was happy to note that all these products in our stores are produced by MMUST through the Chemistry department.

MMUST now In Charge of training County and Hospital Managers

The MMUST Corona Response Operations team took their training of Kenyans on Coronavirus a notch higher by rolling out training for trainers for the County and Kakamega Hospital top management. The training which took place yesterday at the Continuous Medical Education (CME) room was expertly orchestrated and highly successful.

Yesterday, the team trained MMUST’s cleaning group. Our incredible team has tailor-made specific training for particular groups such as healthcare workers, cleaners and administrators. Attached, please find the pictorials showcasing MMUST in this quest to deal firmly with Covid -19.

MMUST’s SCHOOL OF MEDICINE RANKED AMONG COMPLIANT MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS IN KENYA.

The 3rd Joint inspection of Medical and Dental Schools and Teaching Hospitals in the Republic of Kenya has ranked MMUST’s School of Medicine among the compliant medics’ trainer institutions. The inspection was carried out by a joint team of technical health experts from the East African Community (EAC) Partner States National Medical and Dental Practitioners Regulatory Councils from 2nd to 6th March, 2020. This was in line with a directive of the 19th Ordinary Meeting of the EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health held in Nairobi from 28th October to 1st November, 2019 under decision No EAC/SCHealth/19/Decision/004.
